Meet Zsófia

Zsófia is an 18-year-old from Hungary with an easygoing spirit and a passion for engineering, sports, and music. Currently in her final year of high school, she dreams of studying aerodynamics and mechanical engineering at university, a path fueled by her lifelong fascination with cars and racing. From attending motorsport events with her father to exploring the mechanics behind high-speed machines, Zsófia has always been drawn to the thrill of the racetrack.

But there’s more to Zsófia than her love for engines and wheels. She’s also an accomplished athlete who has spent years mastering the art of epee fencing, a sport she adores for its precision and challenge. Beyond sports, she finds joy in music, playing various instruments, with drums being her favorite. Her playlist ranges from heavy metal to Hungarian artists, with Rammstein topping her list of favorite bands.

At ISLI 2024, Zsófia stepped into the role of a regent representing Hungary. The experience was transformative, teaching her the importance of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. Planning and organizing alongside her fellow regents wasn’t always easy, but the collaborative spirit and mutual support made every challenge worthwhile.

Now, Zsófia is returning to ISLI as a Senior Regent, a vital leadership role within the program. Senior Regents are experienced members who take on the responsibility of mentoring the Board of Student Regents. Having successfully completed ISLI as both a participant and a Student Regent, Zsófia is now tasked with teaching and guiding new regents. She’ll lead presentations, facilitate the Issues Forum alongside her fellow Senior Regent Birte, and provide hands-on support during group activities—all to ensure ISLI’s peer-to-peer learning model thrives.

The role of Senior Regents is pivotal to ISLI’s mission, embodying its core values of leadership, collaboration, and cross-cultural understanding. Through mentoring and teaching her peers, Zsófia not only strengthens her own leadership skills but also wants to inspire others to grow into confident, socially responsible leaders. This unique structure, where young leaders guide other young leaders, is at the heart of ISLI’s philosophy and success.

As a Senior Regent, she’s excited to share her experience and help make ISLI 2025 an extraordinary event for everyone involved.
