Meet Lucy!

Lucy M. Vedra is a driven and ambitious 17-year-old with a strong passion for public policy, community engagement, and a fond appreciation for the joy of High School Musical. Although born in the United States, Lucy has spent the past 11 years living in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. Despite this international experience, she humorously notes that she still only speaks English!

At ISLI 2025, Lucy will be 18 and eager to make her mark as a Regent. Her ultimate goal is to study Public Policy at university in the U.S. and pursue a career in local politics or nonprofit organizations, where she can create positive change at the grassroots level. Her interest in government and the sociology of human interaction drives much of what she does today.

Lucy’s calendar is packed with activities that reflect her dedication to personal growth and giving back to the community. From volunteering and playing softball to participating in Scouts and Model United Nations, she’s always seeking opportunities to build connections and expand her skills. Last year, she even attended a Scouts leadership conference, where she discovered her passion for teaching and presenting on leadership—a passion she is excited to bring to ISLI 2025.

For Lucy, ISLI is more than a leadership program; it’s a life-changing experience. “Every day at ISLI felt like a dream come true!” she shares. “There were dance breaks, silly adventures, and meaningful moments that brought me closer to my friends and the incredible people I met during the week.” Inspired by the joy and growth she experienced as a participant, Lucy knew she had to step into the role of a Regent to continue spreading that same magic for others.

Becoming a Regent also fulfills a personal milestone for Lucy: “One dream of mine since attending a Scouts conference last year has been to present and teach others about leadership. Running to be a Regent at ISLI made that dream come true—a life goal completed by age 18!”

Lucy’s vibrant personality, dedication to leadership, and enthusiasm for learning make her a natural fit for the ISLI Regent team. As she helps shape ISLI 2025, she’s ready to inspire participants with the same energy and excitement that made her own ISLI experience unforgettable.
