Exploring perspectives during the Issues Forum
In the heart of the International Student Leadership Institute (ISLI) lies a profound commitment to fostering critical thinking, open dialogue, and a global perspective. One of the pivotal platforms that encapsulate these ideals is the Issues Forum, an engaging and thought-provoking session that brings participants together to explore and debate a current societal concern.
Unveiling the Topic: Responsible Consumption
On Wednesday, the entire ISLI cohort assembles for the Issues Forum, a session carefully curated by the Senior Regents. This year, under the guidance of Cora Fee Parohl from Denmark and Femke Van de Vijver from the Netherlands, participants will immerse themselves in the discourse of "Responsible Consumption."
The central question propelling this year's Issues Forum is, "To what extent is the customer responsible for their consumption, and to what extent is it the industries or government’s responsibility?" Delving deeper, the topic is ingeniously divided into three facets: the government's role, the consumer's responsibility, and the manufacturer's accountability.
All information combined for you
Recognizing the significance of preparation, ISLI has unveiled a dedicated webpage on our official website, providing a comprehensive repository of resources. Senior Regents Cora and Femke have meticulously compiled articles and videos, empowering participants with the knowledge needed to navigate the intricacies of responsible consumption.
In the spirit of an informed discussion, ISLI encourages participants to delve into the provided materials, urging them to absorb diverse perspectives. This proactive approach aligns with ISLI's ethos of developing well-rounded leaders equipped to engage with complex global challenges.
A multilayered debate
The nature of the debate is different every year and evolves from edition to edition. Typically conducted in smaller groups initially, participants later converge for a collective forum. This format ensures that each voice is heard, facilitating a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives.
The Issues Forum stands as a testament to ISLI's commitment to nurturing leaders who not only understand global challenges but actively engage in shaping solutions. As the ISLI community converges to explore responsible consumption, the Issues Forum becomes a crucible where ideas collide, perspectives intertwine, and the seeds of transformative leadership are sown.
