We’re off! A powerful Start to an unforgettable week
It’s finally happening—ISLI 2025 has officially kicked off! After months of planning and anticipation, students from across Europe and the United States have gathered for an intense, inspiring, and transformative leadership experience. Today, the participants arrived at the venue, ready to immerse themselves in a week of learning, collaboration, and personal growth.
A Warm Welcome
The regents, our dedicated student leaders, were the first to greet the participants as they arrived. Some students immediately set off to explore the castle, their new home for the coming days, while others started introducing themselves to their fellow participants. Excitement filled the air as friendships began forming, conversations sparked, and the first bonds of teamwork were established.
An Official Opening Ceremony
The real start of ISLI 2025 came with the opening ceremony, a moment that always sets the tone for the week ahead. Flags from all participating countries—Belgium, Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland, The Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, and the USA—stood tall and proud as their national anthems played. The room was filled with a sense of unity, a reminder that even though we come from different backgrounds, we are here with a shared purpose: to learn, grow, and lead.
Danielle (NLD) and Lucy (USA) led the ceremony with enthusiasm, guiding the participants through this symbolic beginning. Then, ISLI Director Tom took the stage to share a bit of history about ISLI and its mission. He spoke about the importance of leadership in today’s world—how in turbulent times, strong, engaged, and empathetic leaders are needed more than ever. Looking out over the room, he expressed his hope and excitement, knowing that this week would help shape the next generation of changemakers.
Breaking the Ice—The First Connections
Of course, no ISLI kickoff would be complete without the famous icebreakers! The participants were divided into their color groups, and for the first time, they truly started getting to know one another. Through fun and engaging games, they learned more about their regents and about each other. The icebreakers are always a favorite part of the first day, setting the stage for collaboration, trust, and teamwork. Laughter echoed through the rooms as students tried to remember fun facts, complete challenges, and step out of their comfort zones.
The Journey Begins
With the first day coming to a close, ISLI 2025 is officially underway. The participants have taken their first steps on this leadership journey, and the energy is undeniable. The week ahead promises to be filled with powerful discussions, thought-provoking activities, and deep personal growth. If today is anything to go by, we are in for an incredible experience.
